I had the pleasure of exploring the opportunity to tune in and experience the behind-the-scenes aspects of what it takes to run a college sports radio call with Ball State University. On January 25th, 2025, as the Cardinals faced off against the Northern Illinois Huskies in Dekalb, IL, I was grateful to receive the opportunity to perform a job shadow of my fellow sportscaster Dominick Liacone. This opportunity left me with much more hands-on experience with a professional in the field, and guided me into exploring more specific jobs to work in the future.
As part of my pursuit in a career in sports media, I had the opportunity to perform a job shadow at the 670 The Score Headquarters in Downtown Chicago on July 28th, 2025. (also home of the Audacy headquarters) Something I really enjoyed from this particular experience was seeing just how many people go into running the radio shows we all know and love. From on-air talent to behind the audio boards, everyone plays a key part in the production. My favorite part was how quick the team shared breaking news within the Chicago Cubs organization, just minutes after it was released to the press. It was incredible to see the team collaborating with each other about the best ways to go about, and share the breaking headlines with listeners as soon as possible but at the same time as they do with their viewers who are tuned in on social media.
